I am Mum to my 18 year old son, Joey. I live with Joey's Dad, John in a colourful house in Bristol. I am a coach and facilitator as well as a project manager for the NHS. What does project manager mean well just about anything from getting the sandwiches to writing a paper for a £7m tender. I prefer coaching and facilitation. I work with Sarah which is inspring and fun. I like nothing better than cooking a delicious meal and sitting down with friends with a glass of chardonnay and some fab music on in the background.
About my teenager:
Joey has a wonderful optimistic attitude to life. Last year he was down to the last two for one of the main parts in Skins and didn't get it - his comment to me was 'oh well mum I got down to the last two so next time will be the right part of me'. As his mum I was pleased he didn't get it as he would have changed so much so quickly. Joey is applying to drama school. He is an absolue delight and I am grateful every single day that I was given the opportunity to share his life. At one time I was in a terrible place with my parenting but with lots of support and willingness on my part to change I have managed to become the mum I wanted to be to Joey.
The one question I would like to ask Sarah.
How to manage the knock backs that our teenagers get during their teen years so as to enable them to be more resilient to deal with life's knocks.
My biggest challenge.
Letting Joey go with my love and respect ringing in his heart and seeing the opportunities for me in the empty nest. There are plenty of opportunities I just want to be able to see them through the tears.
