You can never really be your child's friend and a great parent what are you really trying to achieve here?
Where do you think you are been over protective and what has you do that?

1. to help strengthten my son's self esteem,
2. to regard me as his friend and not just his mom,
3. to clarify for myself whether I am being overprotective or not and if so, how to overcome that for both's sake.
